Peanuts are a unique plant. They flower above ground, but the seeds that are harvested and are the nut that we know as the peanut, grow below ground. Peanuts are best grown in warm, southern climates. However, they can also be grown in northern climates with some special care.

Peanuts require, on average 100-130 frost-free growing days. In warm climates, peanuts are planted in spring and harvested in fall. Growers in colder climates need to choose an early-maturing variety, 100 days or less, and start seeds indoors 5-8 weeks before outdoor conditions are hospitable to transplanting.

Plant in full sun and use row covers, if necessary, to protect plants from spring frosts. Sow seeds 2” deep and 8” apart. When the seedlings reach 6” tall, hill around the plants like is done with potatoes. Hilling plants means mounding dirt around them so the underground tubers have space to grow and expand without growing above the soil.

Harvest when the plant yellows, before the first frost. Dig up the entire plant, shake off the dirt, and hang upside down for a month to dry the seed “nut” pods.

Very fun toy at a great price
Color: Monsieur Acorn - Large
My dog (an American Staffordshire Terrier) lovessss to chew and destroy things! We have literally gotten three of these because she loves them so much, and they last, too!! You get the first toy, which my dog rips open. I’m not sure exactly how long it takes for her to destroy it, maybe a few days to a week. Then another little toy (with a sad face lol) is revealed. She highly enjoys this one, as well! Finally, she rips the fabric off that and then a blue, spiky ball is revealed. She lovesss to chew on it and I think the bumps are a nice texture for her mouth. She is quite a strong chewer and the ball lasts a long time!! No toy lasts forever and I have found under dog toys are quite expensive and that’s no guarantee of how long it will actually last. But I am perfectly fine with spending ~$11 every once in a while for these toys because I know she loves them, and they are not immediately destroyed.

Would happily purchase again.
Color: Hedgehog
My powerchewer of a dog destroys plushies in 10 minutes and most other 'tough chew' toys don't last more than a day or two - at most. But he loves his hedgehog and hasn't managed to destroy it! Sure, it has a plethora of teeth marks, but it's in one piece and he hasn't managed to bite off any chunks (I was worried about the hedgies nose 😂). It stands up to his teeth and allows him to satisfy his need to gnaw & chew, safely.

Excellent, But Not Strong Enough
Color: Monsieur Acorn - Large
This has become the most engaged my dog has ever been with a toy. He chewed these acorns for an hour and a half STRAIGHT. Sadly, he was able to shred both acorns by this time. For dogs with a normal chewing and shredding amount, this toy would be perfect. However, for a super chewer like our dog (Lab/Malamute), it seems like we're going to need something stronger...
