The Spathiphyllum 'Aurea Variegated' is a cultivar of the peace lily known for its distinctive foliage. This variation in leaf colouration adds visual interest to the plant. Like other members of the Spathiphyllum genus, it produces white spathes that are often mistaken for flowers but are actually specialised leaves surrounding the true flowers.
This plant is well-suited for most home environments due to its adaptability to various light conditions and its preference for consistent moisture. Its tolerance for lower light levels makes it a common choice for spaces where sunlight may be limited. However, to maintain its variegation and encourage blooming, it does benefit from bright, indirect light.
Native to: The Spathiphyllum genus is native to tropical regions of the Americas.
Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top third of the soil feels dry to the touch. Ensure proper drainage to prevent root rot.
Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Can tolerate lower light conditions, but variegation may become less pronounced. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity levels. If the indoor air is dry, especially during winter months, consider using a humidifier, grouping plants together or placing the plant on a tray with water and pebbles to increase humidity.
Temperature: Optimal temperature range is between 18°C to 27°C. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.
