Prevent a Nutrient Drought with Liquid Succulent Fertilizer for Cactus for Succulents

Cactus and succulents don’t require much water, but that doesn’t mean they don’t need nutrients. Our Liquid Succulent Fertilizer is perfect for desert natives because you can incorporate it into your regular watering schedule, so you don’t have to worry about overwatering your plants.

You can use this fertilizer for any cactus or succulent, including snake plants, prickly pear cactus, aloe vera, Hawthoria, hoyas, and African violets.

This liquid fertilizer for succulents has nitrogen, phosphate, potassium, and other vital nutrients your plants need to develop a healthy root system and vibrant foliage colors. When your plants receive the proper nutrients, you’ll notice your slow growers perk up a bit. The Liquid Succulent Fertilizer ratio is 9-3-6.

Succulent Liquid fertilizer is more efficient than powders and granules because it mixes with water and can easily be absorbed by the roots. Your plants can quickly get the nutrients they need which is great if you’re treating nutrient-deprived plants that need their food now.

How to Fertilize Succulents with Liquid Fertilizer

To use this liquid fertilizer for cactus and succulents, mix one teaspoon of the fertilizer per one gallon of water. Give it a stir to mix thoroughly, and then apply it to your plants.

If you don’t use all the fertilizer mixture immediately, you can store it with a lid in a cool, dry place and save it for next time. It can store for up to six months, so one bottle of fertilizer is sure to last you for a while.

How Often to Fertilize Succulents with Liquid Fertilizer

Fertilize and water your plants only once per month at the same time. There’s no need to do each separately since the fertilizer mixes into the water.

Plants native to the desert, such as cactuses and succulents, require very little water since the plants adapted to store water in their foliage. It’s important that you don’t overwater your plants once you start fertilizing them, or you’ll quickly lead them to root rot.

Avoid Overwatering Your Desert Dwellers

It’s easy to overwater succulents and cactuses because they require much less water than other houseplants. Here are a few tips to prevent root rot so your plants can stay happy.

Incorporate our fertilizer into your regular watering schedule. Once you water your plant with our fertilizer, you don’t have to water it again with plain water. Your plant gets food and water in just one watering.

Allow the soil to dry out completely before you water it. We recommend watering once per month, but some plants may need water less often if the soil holds moisture well. Water deeply rather than shallow to encourage root growth and make sure that the plant will receive all the nutrients it needs from the fertilizer. Succulents have shallow roots, so multiple shallow waterings each month puts your plant at risk of developing root rot quickly since the top of the soil is always wet.

Use well-draining soil to prevent root rot. Excess water needs to drain out of a drainage hole, and the soil shouldn’t hold onto extra moisture.

Be sure to check out our Succulent Grow Guide for more information on planting and growing succulent plants.

Don’t forget the Cactus and Succulent Potting Soil to pair with this, and check out the Pellet Succulent Fertilizer if you prefer a pellet based formula.

I'd rate them 5 stars if only I'd had them to use over the last two decades!
    Size: 80 ea
A couple of years ago my dentist and hygienist told me about Xylimelts, which I promptly ordered and appreciated as soon as I used them. After suffering teeth problems due to meds for years, it's too late for me to save my uppers -- dry mouth had decayed my teeth, even with plenty of hydration, good dental hygiene and wonderful dental care (when I didn't put it off a few times, sigh...), and I’m about to get dentures :( . I started out putting two in my mouth at night, but that seemed to be a bit much -- they'd cause me to drool and stain my pillow (washed right out!) Mostly out of concern for the cost of Xylimelts, I began putting only one in my mouth at bedtime. This has worked well for the most part, though some nights I still wake up with a dry mouth, and sometimes put in another one. This could be due to allergies though, my nose is often stuffy as I sleep. However, two would probably prevent this from happening. I tried the non-mint kind first, then accidentally ordered the mint kind once, but I prefer the non-mint flavor. It’s got no real taste, and that suits me fine. By the way, it does take 10 seconds to adhere them, but if you are not comfortable with that spot, you can move them to a better one without them losing their “stick” to the outside of your teeth or gums.

    These are fantastic!!!
    Size: 80 ea
All I can say is, "WOW." I've been fighting terrible dry mouth since going on cpap three months ago (my mask covers nose and mouth). My machine has a humidifier but that wasn't helping at all, even when turned up so high it was raining in my mask! The first nite I tried these lozenges it was like a gift from the angels! I used two, putting one on each side as per the instructions. It was a little weird sticking them to my molars at first; they didn't seem to want to stick but finally took hold. I also had to kind of adjust them so they didn't get knocked loose when I closed my jaws. But once they were in place they worked like a charm. I don't find the taste at all objectionable. It's kind of a very, very mild mint. I will *definitely* order these again. If you fight dry mouth, these are worth trying even though they're on the expensive side. They aren't as expensive as dental work if they end up protecting your teeth from cpap-induced cavities! UPDATE - my oral hygienist told me that CPAP users often begin to develop cavities and other dental problems from using the device. She said that the use of xilitol, which is in these lozenges, night help stave off such problems. Here I am, after years of CPAP use, and I have had no dental problems other than a lost filling! These lozenges are a lifesaver!

    It works well but uncomfortable
    Size: 80 ea
I take blood pressure pills that dry my mouth out. The inside of my lips feel burned from being so try overnight. It's uncomfortable. I discovered these tablets and thought I'd give them a shot. I am struggling with them. I don't have a large mouth and these have to sit inbetween your gums and your lip or cheek. They are bigger than I would like. Plus they kind of hurt my gums. You're supposed to put them in place, wait ten seconds so they stick and then there is no further instruction other than they work for several hours. Do we just leave them in place all night because the uncomfortability makes it so I can't sleep easy. I also wear a nightguard on my top teeth to keep me from grinding. I love Xylitol, I bought some to use in my coffee in the day time so that part is a great thing. I just can't get past how uncomfortable it is to have them fixated in your mouth all night. One last thing... you're supposed to put two in. I did that the first night and it was like... NOPE. I let them sit for 5 minutes like it says and then I just dissolved the rest in my mouth because no way could I leave them in place and sleep. The next night I just used one on my bottom gums. It was still uncomfortable. If they could make them smaller, it would be way easier. Other than that, the Xylitol does work and my mouth isn't nearly as try when I wake up in the morning.

    Odd but surprisingly great
    Size: 80 ea
These things are pretty weird. I had no idea what I was ordering when I ordered them. When they came, I didn't read the documentation and tried one like a normal breath mint. No no no. I set them aside for a few months -- until I read an article online in which dentists were interviewed and in which the dentists recommended products helpful for dental health. These things were mentioned in that list, so I dug them out and read the documentation. Oddly enough, each "melt" has an adhesive-like side that will keep it in place against your jaw (tucked out-of-the-way, between gum/teeth and cheek). And, it's gone -- there but forgotten. Lasts for hours (no kidding), slowly dissolving, keeping your mouth moist (like for speaking) and keeping your breath slightly "minty fresh" (I'm laughing at that expression.). And, apparently, there is a flouride-like dental benefit, but I haven't researched that. Anyway, I highly recommend these quite-strange "melts" (not mints but slightly minty).
