DUAL PURPOSE ONION: Paris Silver Skin can also be grown and used as a spring or salad onion. They are great for filling up gap in the vegetable plot, very easy to grow and quick to harvest maturing in about 14-16 weeks. Onions are also a source of Vitamin C, Calcium and Iron.    

HOW TO PLANT: Sow onion seeds liberally but not too thickly about 1cm deep in well-drained soil. If sowing early, grow seedlings in a greenhouse or indoors to avoid frost damage in starter pots, sowing seeds sparingly to give the roots space to grow. Germination can take up to 24 days. No thinning necessary. Water freely during periods of dry weather.    

TOP GROWING TIPS: Onions fill up gaps on plots perfectly, filling space between slower growing crops such as potatoes, beans or peas. Some growers also use salad onions as row markers as they germinate relatively quickly in little space, marking where other crops have been grown. Also ideal for successional sowing. Can also be grown as a spring onion.
