Aglaonema 'Silver Queen'

Aglaonema 'Silver Queen' is a Chinese evergreen cultivar with narrow lance-shaped leaves patterned in silver-green and darker green. It grows from short stems that gradually form a clump, with leaves held upright when young and more arching as they mature.

Silver-green colour covers much of the blade, while darker green markings follow the margins, midrib area and irregular marbling. As the plant ages, stems can lengthen into cane-like sections, and basal shoots help keep the pot filled from below.

Aglaonema 'Silver Queen' key traits

  • Growth habit: Upright to arching clump with stems that lengthen slowly over time.
  • Leaf shape: Narrow lance-shaped blades with a smooth, lightly glossy surface.
  • Colour pattern: Silver-green leaves with darker green marbling and margins.
  • Mature behaviour: Older stems may become cane-like while basal shoots add fullness.

Aglaonema 'Silver Queen' indoor development

Aglaonema 'Silver Queen' develops slim leaves on upright petioles, giving the plant a more vertical crown when young, followed by a softer arching outline as the blades lengthen.

Indoor flowering may occur on mature plants, with a pale spadix held inside a greenish-white spathe. Old flower stalks can be removed once they fade.

Aglaonema 'Silver Queen' care points

  • Light: Grow in bright indirect to medium light. Filtered brightness keeps the narrow leaves firm and evenly coloured.
  • Watering: Water when the top 2–5 cm of mix has dried. Mature clumps need water spread across the whole pot surface.
  • Substrate: Use an airy houseplant mix with bark, perlite or pumice to keep oxygen around the roots.
  • Drainage: Let excess water leave the pot fully after each watering, especially during cooler months.
  • Temperature: Keep at 18–27 °C and away from cold draughts.
  • Humidity: Average indoor humidity is usually suitable; dry heated rooms may cause tip browning.
  • Feeding: Apply diluted fertiliser every 4–6 weeks in active growth and flush the pot occasionally.
  • Repotting: Repot when roots fill the pot or the clump becomes top-heavy.
  • Pruning: Remove yellowing old leaves at the base and shorten bare stems above nodes.
  • Propagation: Divide crowded clumps or root stem cuttings with visible nodes.

Aglaonema 'Silver Queen' plant health clues

  • Brown sun marks: Shift the plant back from hot windows or intense grow lights.
  • Yellowing with soft petioles: Check for cold, wet substrate and reduce watering until the root zone improves.
  • Dry brown tips: Review watering consistency, fertiliser concentration and dry indoor heat.
  • Bare canes: Cut mature stems above nodes and root healthy cane sections to renew the plant.

Works like a charm as long as you follow instructions. Great value for the price. I used the waterside decals to create custom memorial balloons and they turned out great. I received so many compliments and appreciation from the family. Would order again.

Works very well, easy to use, print great
Paper Size: 8.5-x-11-inch, Paper Size: 8.5-x-11-inch
This was my first time using this kind of decal and I found them to be pretty easy to use and effective. I followed the instructions and all of my projects turned out perfectly. Print quality was good and I had no issues with the ink drying. I bought this because my kids love Bluey (the animated show from Australia) so I wanted to make them some wooden Bluey coasters. I bought some 1/2 inch thick poplar stock from HD, cut it into 3.5 inch squares and sanded them smooth. I added a coat of acrylic clear and let that dry, then lightly sanded it so that the water would not raise the grain of the wood. I followed the instructions for these decals and printed them out on my Canon inkjet printer. I let them dry for about 10 minutes and then took the sheets outside and sprayed them with acrylic clear coat twice, with a few minutes between coats, as the can said. I did it again the next day for a total of 4 coats. I cut them out and the submerged one in filtered cool water. While it was submerged, I wiped a coaster with a bit of water. After 20-30 seconds, I took the decal out and placed it on the coaster and gently slid the decal off the paper a bit, then I grabbed the paper backing and slid it out while I held the decal in place. I adjusted it a bit and then smoothed it out and dabbed it lightly with a clean towel. I checked for bubbles and smoothed more with wet fingers, then I dried them again with a towel and let the whole thing dry overnight. The next day, I sprayed 2 coats of acrylic clear coat and the same again a day later. Then I added thin felt pads to the back to let them slide on the table. So far, they have held up well. The decals still look good and they aren't coming off. I did mess up one because I put on too thick a coat of acrylic by accident and it made the decal peel. One coaster was left with water on it overnight and there was no problem the next day when I wiped it off. Good coats of sealer are essential to seal the ink and the coaster, then the whole process seems to go well consistently. I had one or two decals in my second batch that ripped that were entirely my fault. You have to be gentle and I pulled too hard when repositioning the decal. For sure I will buy these again. They are great for small projects for personal use.
