This is a moisture-retentive, peat-replacement terrestrial houseplant mix with added aeration.

It is designed for plants that naturally grow on the forest floor, not in canopy or epiphytic conditions. This mix sits firmly in houseplant soil territory, prioritizing steady moisture, softness, and root contact over speed of drainage or extreme airflow.

Think classic tropical understory conditions—consistent moisture, buffered roots, and a forgiving but not careless substrate.

COMPONENTS

(Formulated for moisture retention with balanced aeration)

Coco Coir – Primary peat-replacement matrix. Provides continuous moisture retention, uniform root contact, and a soft structure that supports fine and fibrous roots while drying more cleanly than peat.

Orchiata Bark – Structured organic aeration. Introduces durable pore space, slows compaction, and improves oxygen availability within an otherwise moisture-dominant mix.

Perlite – Lightweight aeration component. Interrupts the fine matrix to preserve gas exchange and reduce the risk of total saturation.

Worm Castings – Fine, biologically active fraction. Contributes low-level nutrition, microbial life, and increased moisture retention; a major reason overpotting must be avoided.

Biochar – Nutrient buffering and microbial habitat. Increases CEC, moderates nutrient swings, and adds long-term biological stability without acting as a fertilizer.

This mix uses a coir- and casting-based matrix to replace peat while maintaining a biologically active, moisture-dominant structure. Aeration components are included to prevent complete collapse, but the mix is intentionally slow-drying and soil-like in behavior.

This is not a chunky or structural mix. It is designed to behave like a modern, improved houseplant soil.

WHO THIS MIX IS FOR

This mix is designed for standard tropical houseplants that prefer consistent moisture, moderate aeration, and a soft, biologically active root zone.

Best suited for:

  • Forest-floor tropicals

  • Plants with fine to medium root systems

  • Species that struggle in fast-draining or chunky mixes

  • Growers seeking a peat alternative with familiar soil behavior

This mix favors moisture stability over oxygen dominance.

NON-NEGOTIABLE RULES FOR SUCCESS

  • Never overpot. Coir and castings together will compact if excess volume is used.

  • Use containers sized tight to the root ball.

  • Water thoroughly, then allow partial dry-down before rewatering.

  • Best results occur in warm, temperate environments.

Overpotting is the primary failure mode for this mix.

Very comfortable in the Texas heat.
Size: Small, Color: Black/Navy/Dark Purple/Red
I got some of these as a gift and I loved them so much I purchased two more packs. I just opened my new packs and put them in the washer so I'm not leaving a photo. When I wear them they look exactly like they do on the models. I've been doing a lot of heavy outdoor work in the heat and I get drenched. These underwear have a 100% cotton crotch and the rest is 95% cotton and 5% spandex. When I first saw the wide crotch I didn't think I would like it. But these are soooo comfortable. I'm 4'11" and weight 108-112 and the size small fits loosly but well. I could probably get away with an XS but I like this loose and not too tight fit. I see some folks say these roll up. They don't roll up on me. I think they might roll if they were tight fitting. I have lots of other undergarments like these and some roll and some don't. But none of the others are cotton. They are mostly spandex and since I've found these in cotton that's all I'm wearing until summer is over. I can't feel them or see them under pants or skirts. These look more like shorts than underwear and they have a very nice thickness. Since I only had four pair to begin with, those got washed and dryed a lot. I can't tell if they shrunk since I only tried them after washing. Sorry I forgot to compare the size of the new ones to the older ones before I threw them in the washer. I'll probably buy another set and compare at that time. One thing I can report is that they do not fade at all. I just washed the black, purple and red colors with the white color and the white is still completely white. Now I have more colors and I'll probably be walking around in my underwear and no one will know. The only con I can think of is the wide crotch wouldn't work well with pads with wings, in my opinion. Try a size larger for a nice cool pair of sleeping shorts to see how they fit while they are on sale. Then go smaller if needed. I think you might enjoy these.

So comfortable and worth the buy
Size: Large, Color: Black
So comfortable!!! There is no seam in the butt and under neath, only in the front but it is really soft and non irritating. I got these for post partum but I’m already wearing them at 8.5 months pregnant. They’re probably my favorite undies right now. The length is also perfect and the material is very soft and stretchy. The waist band is the same, soft and stretchy.

Cotton Blend Was Just Too thick
Size: 3X-Large, Color: Black
I was surprised by how thick these boxers were, thicker than my jeans, much thicker than my PJs! Thick enough that I could wear them outside the home without jeans. In spite of the thickness, they were soft and very comfortable. The 3XL is a perfect fit on my 5’2” apple shaped, short waisted 215 lb body. The boxer cut helped prevent chafing, a major plus. Menstrual pads, with or without wings, do not adhere to this material, a major minus. Ultimately, feeling like I was wearing jeans to bed or wearing two pairs of pants outside the home, was just too uncomfortable for me. So disappointed because these boxers were such a great and comfortable fit.

This are the best in men’s underwear. Modal fabric is the key.
Color: Black, Size: Small, Color: Black, Size: Small
Well I tried Hanes bikinis small and medium said to be the best seller. Maybe for a young boy but not for me an older man. Tried numerous others and none fit like these. The most comfortable of all I tried probably because the waistband being between mid and low and not so wide a fabric and fit the best. The biggest thing I love about these is the pouch area being just right and the fabric is so soft. Modal is the way to go. Cotton bunches up. Great quality and price. Can’t go wrong with these. Tried boxer briefs and trunks also and all to high waisted even when advertised as low, and the pouch area were bulkier. Edited: The solid colors are ok for casual use only but not for sports. The ones with a fancy design are better. Bigger pouch area and a different style waist band.
