Native habitat and growth pattern
Epipremnum aureum is native to Moorea in the Society Islands of French Polynesia. In the wild, it climbs tall trees with aerial roots, reaching impressive heights. Indoors, it adapts perfectly as a trailing or climbing plant, producing vines that can be trained up moss poles, allowed to cascade from shelves, or styled in hanging baskets.

Size
W15cm nursery pot. Supplied in a plastic nursery pot.

Styling tips

  • Great for creating a jungle-style look indoors

  • Let it trail from a shelf or hanging pot for a cascading effect

  • Train it up a moss pole to encourage larger leaves

  • Works well as a statement plant in living rooms, bedrooms, or kitchens

Devil’s Ivy care guide

Light requirements:
Prefers bright, indirect light but will tolerate lower light levels. Avoid direct midday sun which can scorch the leaves.

Watering:
Water regularly in the growing season, allowing the top layer of soil to dry out between waterings. It enjoys humidity and benefits from occasional misting.

Feeding:
Feed once a month in spring and summer. We recommend our vegan, organic Original Plant Food, specially formulated for tropical foliage plants.

Humidity:
Thrives in average home humidity but appreciates extra moisture in the air.

Pet safety:
Toxic if ingested — keep away from cats and dogs.

Propagation:
Very easy to propagate from stem cuttings in water or soil.

Why choose this plant?

Devil’s Ivy is one of the most popular houseplants in the world — and for good reason. Hardy, adaptable, and fast-growing, it will thrive in almost any indoor environment. Its trailing habit and striking variegated leaves make it a versatile choice whether you want to fill a corner, brighten a shelf, or create a lush hanging display.

This is a brilliant plant for beginners, as it forgives the occasional missed watering and continues to grow strongly. It’s also loved by collectors for its endless styling potential, whether trained upright or left to trail naturally. With its bold colouring and easy-care nature, Devil’s Ivy is a houseplant classic that never goes out of style.

As a gift, it’s a thoughtful and reliable choice. Its symbolism of resilience and its reputation as an almost unkillable plant make it a perfect present for anyone new to houseplants.

FAQs

Why is it called Devil’s Ivy?
Because it’s so hard to kill and stays green even in low light.

How fast does Devil’s Ivy grow indoors?
In the right conditions, it produces new leaves weekly in summer and can quickly trail over a metre long.

Can I grow Devil’s Ivy in water?
Yes — it roots easily in water, though soil is best for long-term growth.

Why are the leaves on my Devil’s Ivy turning brown at the edges?
This is often due to underwatering or low humidity. Increase watering slightly and mist the plant occasionally.

Not chew proof but great for stimulating your dog!
Size: Large, Color: Octopus - Multi Color, Size: Large, Color: Octopus - Multi Color
8 legs gone in one night! Haha to be expected because my dog is a heavy chewer. Like other costumers we are left with a blue ball which she still plays with. It’s a great toy for days that my dog really needs to get energy out. She was so tired after, she was panting like she ran for miles. I suggest combining physical exercise with things like purposeful chewing or licking toys to tired them out. Doing this has reduced my dog’s anxiety tremendously over the years therefore reducing destruction of our furniture 😅 a tired pup is a happy pup!

It’s not for a big dog with large teeth
Size: Large, Color: Rabbit
The dogs Already chew its nose off Didn’t last 2 days. We are trying to sew it up. It will probably end up in the trash Thought this bunny is very cute. I’d only buy it for children to play with it. Or maybe a tiny dog.

Great despite mild defect!!!
Size: Large, Color: Octopus - Multi Color
this is a great toy for my pup! I love goDog toys because they last a long time for my destructive Aussie. This is my dog's favorite toy right now. He brings it to me constantly for a nice game of tug-o-war. It did rip within a month but the rips are staying intact thanks to the method goDog uses to put these toys together. I would not drop the rating for this, but I will admit the bottom cloth used to sew all the legs in tears easily. It is doing well after I sewed reinforcement into them but it would be nice if GoDog found a way to reinforce that piece to improve the toy.

Emotional support
Size: Large, Color: Octopus - Multi Color
Greatest toy ever! My dog is in love! This is like her emotional support toy. She sleeps with it and chews on it throughout the day. The only issue is the seams break open and the stuffing pops out after awhile. I just grab needle and thread and sew it back closed. Washes well too.
