Use strawberries fresh or preserve them by freezing or canning to enjoy the flavor of summer during chilly winter days. Grow a container of strawberries on the patio or just outside the kitchen to enjoy sweet snacks as you pass by, or plant strawberries in raised beds or in-ground gardens. Plant strawberries so the crown is just above the soil line. A perennial in USDA zones 5 to 9, strawberries prefer full sun and well-drained soil. The plant grows 8 to 12 inches tall, and fruit matures in 35 to 45 days. Ok my dogs are going nuts... krinkles every where... save me, please. Lol
