The flowers are bat pollinated in their natural habitat. The plant is widely grown in cultivation as an ornamental plant. Cobaea scandens is a species heavily studied and documented by Charles Darwin. Cobaea scandens are hardy to zones 9 through 11.
Plant the seeds on the surface of a well draining potting soil and sprinkle just enough soil over the seeds to cover them. Water the seeds in and keep the soil moist but not soaking wet between 70°F to 80°F for best results. Germination typically takes between 10 to 30 days.
