Deep down in the swamps around New Orleans, Louisiana, there's Voodoo legends galore revolving around Marie Laveau. One of those legends is the Grunch Road Monster. Marie Laveau put a curse on the wife of the man she loved because the man chose his wife over her. The wife was with child, and when she conceived, she gave birth to a horrid offspring called The Devil Baby. The stories say the baby was so ugly, the man ran away and his wife died of fright. Marie ended up taking care of the baby, chopping its testicles off so it could never reproduce.  When the bloody testicles fell to the floor, they were so full of Marie's curse, they turned into a male and female Grunch. The monsters attacked Marie, leaving her for dead. When the Voodoo queen awoke, the baby and the Grunches were gone. 

Left to reproduce in the swamps around New Orleans, these creatures still roam the bayous. Late one blistering August afternoon, twelve-year-olds Jimmy and Kendall stumble upon an abandoned trainyard in the swamps behind their neighborhood. They discover an old intermodal car with the words spray painted on the side, "Beware of Monster." But like all curious kids, they had to see what was inside...
