The Orange Eye Red Tiger Shrimp (OERT) is a visually striking Caridina shrimp known for its vivid red body adorned with tiger-like striping and unmistakable bright orange eyes. This unique combination makes it a standout addition to any shrimp tank.
Unlike most tiger variants, the Orange Eye Red Tiger is valued not only for its coloration but also for its translucent, glowing orange eyes, which come from a recessive gene. These eyes create a sharp contrast against the red-striped body and are especially striking under proper lighting.
This shrimp is a favorite among collectors due to its unique appearance, relatively stable genetics, and compatibility with other soft water Caridina types. For breeders or display tank enthusiasts looking for something different, the OERT is an eye-catching and rewarding choice.
Each shrimp may feature:
- 🔥 Red body with vertical tiger striping

- Temperature: 68–72°F (20–22°C)
- pH: 5.8–6.8
- GH: 4–6
- KH: 0–1
- TDS: 100–160 ppm
- Tank Size: Minimum 5 gallons
- Substrate: Active substrate (lowers pH)
- Tank Mates: Shrimp-only or peaceful nano fish only
